Confidentiality and Privacy
One of the biggest things that most people worry about is confidentiality and privacy. For starters, they don’t want to have all of their information being given to a bunch of random people. They want to make sure that the information is safe. Another reason is they don’t necessarily want a bunch of people knowing where they’re going. Sometimes people might be embarrassed about their medical situations and they don’t want their neighbors to know what’s going on. This is especially true for people who are already very private about their lives and don’t open up to people very often.
When picking you up, the driver should only ask you things your name, date of birth, and confirming your destination.
They should be asking the bare minimum to confirm your identity and make sure they have the right person. With that being said, some drivers are going to be more talkative than others. They are going to try and make the ride more enjoyable and stress free for you. This means they will probably make a lot of small talk and try to get you smiling and laughing. If that’s not something you are interested in, just let them know that you’re uncomfortable and they should tone it down quite a bit.
In terms of other people knowing what’s going on, the driver can’t disclose anything because it’s a violation of HIPPA. The only people who can say anything is you. With that being the case, if you don’t want people to know what’s going on, then you don’t have to tell them!
